The neem tree, (Azadirachta indica) is in the mahogany family. It is native to the Indian subcontinent and many countries in Africa.

Neem meal (or ‘cake’) is the residue of neem kernels after they are crushed for their oil. It includes well over 100 bio active ingredients many of which are natural insect repellents.

Our neem meal is unlike any other here in the UK: it's certified organic and sourced direct from a cooperative of farmers in Tamil Nadu, India.

We mill this fresh into a fine powder before we dispatch to ensure that it has a small particle size and uniform consistency for rapid and even mineralisation. 

What are the benefits of using neem meal for plants?

The neem tree is famous at it naturally produces a chemical called Azadirachtin. It also produces the bitter limonoids Nimbin and Salinin and has been used for thousands of years as a natural form of pest control.

In terms of plant nutrition, neem meal has a balanced NPK ratio of 2.1.1 and contains a wide range of macro and micronutrients
